The 7 Chakras
Every energy body has got its own energy centre, called a chakra. Certain
chakras influence or even control parts of the human body. An organism gets its
energy through chakras. Each human body is attached to a meridian-pipe (or nadi-channel)
that enables the energy to flow into and out of it.
There are almost 72,000 such channels in the human body. The chakras absorb the
energy, channels it to form the aura of the person, and then energy starts to
flow towards the different organs via the nadi-channels. The size of the aura
and energy quantity depends on the power energized at the charka. The thoughts
and emotions of a person clears the chakras to accept the energy of likewise
vibrations, and this is why the quality of one’s aura depends on these
vibrations.
For instance, negative thoughts or emotions adjusts the chakras to accept
negative information, and this has the effect of the body accepting unclean
energy.
All things in this world interact with each other; everything is constantly
operating according to the Law of Cause and Effect - each organ or cell of a
human body is dependent on all others, together with all the seven charkas and
the energy body. It is like a single but diversified unit!
Spirit, body, consciousness, people, their destiny, the Earth, the stars, the
whole Universe - all these things are in continuous interaction and are
submitted to the Law of Cause and Effect. From here we can appreciate that
everything that happens to a person is the direct result of the cause and effect
– or, Karma.
The status of one’s chakras affects not only the bodily organs but also certain
aspects of one’s karma, or destiny in this lifetime. The table below outlines
the basic information associate with the seven major chakras.
 |
Root Chakra - Muladhara: |
Most important attribute -
Earth - The Muladhara is important in that it carries the
complete potential of the human organism. The positive influence of this
chakra is responsible for the power of endurance, resolution and
self-confidence. It functions to control the rectum, prostrate, large
intestines and all lower extremities. |
 |
Genital Chakra - Swadhistana: |
Most important attribute -
Water - The Swadhistana chakra accounts for mistrust, despite,
ignorance and cruelty. On a more positive note, the chakra purifies
one's brain, thus affecting language, a broadening of the mind and
releases the person from lust, greed and anger. The Swadhistana is
responsible for all urina-genital processes. |
 |
Umbilical Chakra - Manipura: |
Most important attribute - Fire
- On the negative side of the being is portrayed: shame,
instability, jealousy, suspiciousness, stupidity and rudeness. The
positive side of the Manipura chakra illustrates strong will power and
mentality. This chakra influences the digestive system, gallbladder,
liver and pancreas. |
 |
Heart Chakra -
Anahata: |
Most important attribute - Air
- This chakra may intensify negative qualities such as arrogance or
hypocrisy, deviousness, greediness, but also can be transmuted into the
more positive aspects such as non-egoistic love, mercy, compassion,
tolerance and understanding. This chakra is mainly responsible for the
cardiovascular system. |
 |
Throat Chakra -
Vishuddha: |
Most important attribute - Ether
- This chakra is
extraordinary because it influences all other chakras via the human
voice:
i.e., chanting, singing, prayer. But the voice has negative aspects
which
can result in swearing, use of foul language. This chakra influences
mouth/throat functions, the jaws, neck, bronchi, lungs and thyroid
gland. |
 |
Third Eye Chakra -
Adjna: |
This chakra is responsible for all aspects of the mind
and perceptive qualities. The development of this chakra can result in
the seeing of human auras, chakras and other psychic-spiritual
phenomena. It is also responsible for the efficiency of the eyes, ears
and nose. |
 |
Crown Chakra -
Sahasrara: |
And lastly, the Sahasrara chakra, the 1000-petalled lotus

traditionally associated with the Enlightenment of the human
consciousness, the self-fulfilling gem of the ancient scriptures. |
